The South Sumatera unit of the state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina is ready to channel part of its electricity power to the state electricity company PLN at a price 4.1 U.S. cents per kilo watt hour, which is still much lower that the production cost.
The local Palembang Post daily quoted Pertamina Palembang unit spokesman Yusnizar Umar as saying that Pertamina was set to distribute 12 MW power.
Pertamina has been recently under strong criticism for its reluctance to provide its own power supply to PLN.
PLN needs an additional of 32 MW power supply to help resolve the power shortage problem in Palembang.
State-owned fertilizer firm PT Pusri had also been demanded to supply part of its power to PLN.(*)
