Pertamina rehabiltates oil pipeline at fields in Kalimantan

The operation unit of Pertamina EP in UBEB Tanjung field has officially launched a rehabilitation project to improve the condition of the company?s old oil pipeline used to deliver oil from the company?s wells in the field to an oil refinery in Balikapapan, East Kalimantan.

UBEB Tanjung?s spokesman Ruspandi said that some parts of the 232-kilometer pipeline which passed several districts of Tabalong regency in South Kalimantan and several districts in Panajam regency in East Kalimantan needed replacement.

?The pipeline has been in operation for 50 years and has high risks of leakages,? Ruspandi said during a socialization activity of the rehabilitation projects to villagers along the pipeline.

During the meeting with the villagers, Pertamina EP?s executives in charge of the UBEB Tanjung field operation also asked villagers not to construct buildings or plant trees within 20 meters of both sides of the pipeline to ensure safety.
