Friday, July 9 2010 - 01:35 AM WIB

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) sees fuel sale of 56.79 million kiloliters this year and will gradually increase to 66.16 million kiloliters in 2014 as the Indonesian economy is predicted to continue expanding.

Director of Marketing and Trading Djaelani Sutomo, however, said that demand for high speed diesel (HSD) will continue to fall until 2012 as state electricity firm PLN will cut its HSD consumption as it would increase the usage of natural gas to fuel its combined cycle power plants.

Djaelani also said that kerosene consumption will also decrease due to success of introduction of LPG as the fuel?s substitute.

The biggest portion of the increase will be contributed by increasing gasoline consumption due to increase in car sales, he said. (bernard)
