Pertamina replaces FSO for PHE WMO

State oil and gas company Pertamina's subsidiary, PHE WMO, will replace its Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) operating in Poleng field, MT. Gebang , with Pertamina Abherka, whose rebuilding at Cosco shipyard in Guangdong, China has just been completed.

The new FSO has a capacity of 600,000 barrels and can accommodate 150 off-shore workers. Pertamina Abherja is the first product of Pertamina Shipping that converts tankers into FSOs. The company will operate the new FSO in PHE WMO operational area for 10 years without docking.

Pertamina Shipping acquired the FSO project from Kodeco (now owned by PHE WMO) through an open tender. The project to convert the tanker into FSO lasted in about 10 months, starting from engineering, procurement and dock building. The conversion work included construction of a living quarter that can accommodate up to 150 people.

BKI ( Indonesia ) and NKK ( Japan ) have granted the FSO certificates of eligibility after conducting tests on quality and safety standards of the facility.

The FSO is equipped with metering skid and export pumps which apply the latest technology and are integrated with a computer system.

FSO Pertamina Abherka is being towed from Cosco Shipyard to Indonesia and is expected to arrive in 15 days.

The new FSO will allow PHE WMO to tap up to 30,000 barrels of oil per day and provide off-shore workers with more accommodation facilities. The workers are being accommodated on Simgood 1 barge.
