Pertamina, Repsol sign oil, gas joint study

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and Spain?s oil and gas company Repsol signed an oil and gas joint study cooperation agreement in a bid to help increase Indonesia?s oil reserves and accelerate production.
Pertamina said in a statement that the cooperation agreement was signed by company President Director Elia M. Manik and Repsol?s CEO, Josu Jon Imaz on July 17 in Spain, which was also witnessed by State Minister of State Owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno.
The cooperation agreement will cover four studies namely, digital-based upstream technology, EOR technology development research, second generation biofuel, and research and development management.
Elia said in the statement that joint study on digital-based upstream technology will produce rock reservoir characteristics model to be applied at the working area of Pertamina-Repsol Jambi Merang as a pilot and other working areas. ?Going forward, Pertamina human resources will be able to develop reservoir characteristics in other Pertamina working areas,? he said.
In the area of EOR technology research, the statement said Repsol will make a technology and knowledge transfer for field-scale application of EOR technology. This cooperation will implement an EOR filtration method laboratory study for trial program at the Sago and Limau (Q51) fields.
In a bid to help meet the Indonesian government 2025 renewables target, Pertamina and Repsol will build cooperation in the production of biomass gasoline using biomass pyrolysis technology.
