Pertamina reviews, not cancels, EOR cooperation plan with Talisman

Pertamina EP, the subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, is reviewing its cooperation plan with Canadian firm Talisman on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects, not canceling it as previously reported by Petromindo.com.

?Pertamina EP is evaluating the cooperation. In several fields, Pertamina EP work on EOR projects on its own rather than in cooperation with other firms,? M. Harun, Pertamina EP?s communication manager, said.

On July 30, Harun was quoted by Petromindo as saying that Pertamina EP had terminated the MoU on cooperation in EOR projects it signed last year with Talisman. According to him, he was misquoted.

?I did not say the cooperation with Talisman had been terminated because the right to terminate the contract does not lie with Pertamina EP, but Pertamina holding company. Our capacity is only to review and evaluate the EOR project,? he said.

Pertamina is now applying EOR technology at Nglobo and Kawengan fields in Cepu area, Central Java. (Bernard)
