State oil and gas company PT Pertamina is evaluating its technical assistance contracts (TAC) with 33 contractors in order to see if the contractors have worked in accordance with the contracts.

?We are targeting to finish the evaluation in the first semester of 2007,? company upstream director Sukusen Soemarinda said on the sidelines of the company?s hearing with the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The 33 contracts were awarded in the 1990s but only five of the contractors are producing more than 2,000 barrels of oil per day. The rest are producing less amount of oil or even make no production at all.

?We have issued letters to them to comply with their commitment according to the contracts,? Sukusen said. (Godang)
