Pertamina, Reykjavik sign deal to jointly develop geothermal projects

Iceland geothermal firm Reykjavik Energy has signed a memorandum of agreement on Tuesday with PT.Pertamina Geothermal Indonesia, a unit of state oil and gas company PT.Pertamina, to explore possibility to jointly develop Pertamina?s geothermal portfolio in Indonesia.
Pertamina CEO Ari Sormarno said that both companies will evaluate Pertamina?s geothermal potential of 9,000 MW and would then decide the joint venture area.
Reykjavik CEO Gudmundur Thoroddsson said initially the company is looking to develop 500-MW of geothermal power plant in Indonesia. (bernard)
