The paper quoted Pertamina Vice President for Crude Product Trading and Commercial at Pertamina?s Integrated Supply Chain, Hasto Wibowo as saying that the company wants the Dumai refinery to expand the type of crudes it can processed.
He said that the Dumai refinery has only been processing the Minas and Duri crudes.
Hasto added that the Sarir and Mesla crudes were selected as alternatives because of their abundant supply in the global market, and that Pertamina wants to take advantage of the current relatively low global oil price to increase processing volume at the refinery.
Pertamina is planning to team up with Saudi Aramco in a planned project to increase the capacity of the Dumai refinery to 300,000 bpd from the current 140,000 bpd. (*)
