Pertamina's fuel terminal in Maluku in safe condition after earthquake

State energy company PT Pertamina said its fuel terminal (TBBM), refilling station for aircraft (DPPU) and distribution facilities in Maluku remain in safe condition after an earthquake hit Maluku on Thursday (26/09) morning.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has announced that a 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Ambon in Maluku on Thursday morning. The quake was felt at 6:46 a.m. Jakarta time with an epicenter located about 40 kilometers northeast of Ambon at a depth of 10 km. The the quake was followed by a 5.6-magnitude aftershock at 7:39 a.m. Jakarta time.

Unit Manager for Communication, Relations, & CSR MOR VIII of Pertamina, Brasto Galih Nugroho, said the above facilities were unaffected by the earthquake.

Nevertheless, the company's Emergency Crisis Respond Team (ECRT) at the Wayame and Masohi fuel terminals are on alert and immediately checked the physical condition of the facilities. The team found that there were no damages on the fuel tanks and there were no reported damages on its jetty.

Brasto said after the earthquake hit the area, the company halted the operation of the fuel terminals in line with standard operating procedures (SOP). Given that there were no damages, the fuel terminals resumed operation at 13.00 eastern Indonesian time.
