Pertamina?s Melucut-001 shale well indicates hydrocarbon presence

Drill stem test (DST) result at the Melucut-001 shale well, in Sumbagut non-conventional PSC, North Sumatra Province, indicates the presence of hydrocarbon prospect.

This was said by Head of Drilling and Survey Division at upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, Ngatijan Harjowiyono to Petromindo.com on Wednesday, but did not give further details.

The PSC is operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) through subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Migas Non Konvensional Sumatera Utara (PHE MNK Sumut),

The well was drilled at the end of last year. The company is cooperating with PT Pertamina EP (PEP) in the drilling program. The objective of the PEP drilling is conventional hydrocarbon, while the objective of the PHE drilling is to obtain core data of tight rocks interval believed to have potential as unconventional target.

The block is 100 percent owned by PHE. It is the first shale block wholesale led light bulbs ever awarded by the government. It was awarded to Pertamina in May 2015.
