Pertamina's new gas pipeline in North Jakarta exploded

A newly built gas pipeline which will be used by state oil and gas company Pertamina to transmit environmentally friendly gas product "Musicool" in Jakarta exploded on Monday afternoon, causing serious injuries to two of the workers of the contractor conducting the pipeline construction works, Koran Tempo reported on Tuesday.

Pertamina said that the explosion occurred at the pipe's segment near its gas receiving terminal in Koja, North Jakarta, when the company was conducting the trial operation of the newly built pipeline.

Two workers of the contractors handling the pipeline installation, Kirman and Sugianto, suffered serious burning injuries in the accident. The installation of the pipeline began on Sept 2, with total cost of about Rp 900 million. (*)
