Pertamina's oil well blowout finally stopped

State owned oil company Pertamina has finally stopped the blowout at one of its aging oil wells in Muara Enim, South Sumatra. No casualties were reported since the blowout took place last Friday.

Hary Kustoro,the upstream director of Pertamina said that the blowout which had caused massive pollution in areas located near the oil well was finally stopped at midday on Wednesday.

The workers had faced difficulties to stop the blowout due to the lack of water supply. "But with the help of an American expert, the blowout could be finally stopped," one of Pertamina's workers said.

No casualties were reported but hundreds of residents were evacuated to safer places. (godang)
