Pertamina?s Plumpang fire leaves one dead

Fire that engulfed a storage tank of premium fuel at the Pertamina fuel depot in Plumpang, North Jakarta has not only caused material and financial losses but also left one dead. A security officer of the Plumpang fuel depot, identified as Zainudin, 25, was found dead in the site close to the tank with burnt body and broken leg.
Police are now questioning seven persons as eyewitnesses related to the incident.
Pertamina's commerce and marketing director Achmad Faisal said Pertamina suffered at least Rp 15 billion (US$=Rp 11,100) in losses, that is the value of 3000 kiloliters of Premium held in the burned tank.
Pertamina is still assessing the value of the burned tank and equipment, he added.
The Pertamina fuel depot in Plumpang, North Jakarta, resumed operations Monday afternoon. Pertamina's director Arie H. Sumarno and the oil and gas regulatory agency BPH Migas head Agus Budi Hartono were present to officially mark the depot's turning its taps back on. (*)
