Pertamina?s refinery in Dumai resumes normal production

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina said that its Putri Tujuh oil refinery in Dumai, Riau, has resumed normal production following a fire incident late on Sunday.

General Affairs Manager of PT Pertamina Refinery Unit II Dumai, Yan Syukharial was quoted by Koran Tempo daily as saying Tuesday that fuel supply from the refinery has not been disrupted as the fire did not affect the processing unit, but occurred at the heater facility.

Kontan daily also reported that fuel supply from the refinery to Riau and surrounding areas would not be much affected. The paper quoted company Processing Director Chrisna Damayanto as saying that Pertamina would immediately proceed with repair work of the affected area, which would take about 15 days to complete.

The fire incident started late Sunday with sparks at the heater when the temperature at hydrocracking unit 211 was increased, Pertamina said in a statement. The company quickly shut down the system, and moved quickly to curb the fire and localize the incident. (*)
