Pertamina?s team to leave for Iraq soon

State oil and gas firm Pertamina will soon dispatch a special team to Iraq to study the possibility of resuming its oil exploration project in that country, company president director Baihaki Hakim said Friday.
The company?s move was sparked by the improvement of the condition of Iraq?s oil sector, Baihaki said.
?The Iraqi oil ministry has started functioning,? he told reporters.
Baihaki did not say exactly when the Indonesian delegation would leave for Iraq.
Pertamina and The Iraqi Oil Exploration Company last year signed an agreement to allow the Indonesian firm to explore for Iraq?s Western Desert area.
Pertamina invested US$35 million in preliminary oil exploration activities in the Iraqi oil block. (godang)
