Pertamina?s upstream operations affected by Aceh flooding-update

State oil and gas company PT.Pertamina said on Sunday that its Rantau upstream operations which is located in the border of Aceh and North Sumatra province is severely affected by heavy flooding that hit the provinces for the past several days.

?Pertamina has to partially stop operations in Rantau due to heavy flooding that hit the complex.? Said Pertamina EP CEO Kun Kurnaely. Meanwhile, Operations Director Subarkah Kustowo said as per Sunday, 98 percent of Pertamina?s area was inundated by water.

BPMIGAS deputy chairman in charge of operations Dodi Hidayat told Petromindo.Com thus far, Rantau still supplied Belawan power plant in North Sumatra by normal rate of 33-35MMCFD. ?Several gathering stations had been infiltrated by water, and if this situation persists, within the next 3-4 days, gas supply to Medan has to be significantly reduced,? he said.

Subarkah added liquids production was affected by the flooding, but did not give detail.

Rantau is Pertamina?s mature fields operations, producing oil and gas. Rantau supplies gas to North Sumatra?s Belawan power plant at declining rate. (godang)
