State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina said that its upstream and downstream facilities in Central Sulawesi Province are in safe condition following a 6.9 earthquake which rocked the province Friday evening.

Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communications Fajriyah Usman said that there were no significant impact to its facilities following the quake, which has triggered the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (or BMKG) to issue a tsunami warning.

Pertamina operates several facilities in Central Sulawesi including upstream facilities at the Donggi-Matindok field, fuel oil terminals including Luwuk, Kolonedale and Banggai terminals, and 11 gasoline stations.

“Personnel and facilities are in safe condition, but we’ll continue to monitor and conduct through investigation to make sure,” she said.

Fajriyah, however, said that Pertamina closed down two gasoline stations in Luwuk, located near the sea, following the tsunami warning, for safety reason.
