?Fuel prices for next month will not be increased,? said Pertamina?s downstream director Muchsin Bahar.
The company has not raised fuel prices since February.
Pertamina, following government decision, on January 2 increased fuel prices by up to 22 percent shortly after the government increased electricity and telephone surcharges by as much as 15 percent. Public anger later caused the government to reduce fuel and electricity prices.
Meanwhile, starting from March 2002, domestic prices of fuel products excluding kerosene for households are set monthly based on the price of Mid Oil Platts Singapore. However, the government also set floor and ceiling prices to anticipate sharp fluctuation in the international price. (godang)
