State oil and gas company Pertamina said Tuesday there would not be shake-up in its board of directors? level at least until after the company had changed status into limited liability.

?I have talked to Minister of State Enterprises Laksamana Sukardi, and he guaranteed that the company?s present board of directors will not be replaced until Pertamina passes transition period and its status changed into limited liability company,? Pertamina president Baihaki Hakim said. He said the change could take effect within six month?s time.

Under the new oil and gas law, Pertamina?s status will be converted from special company to limited liability company and authority to oversee the company will fall into the hands of ministry of state owned enterprises.

Rumors about Pertamina?s top management replacement had been rampant for several months, with Roes Aryawijaya, Laksamana?s deputy and former Pertamina director Gatot Karyoso Wirayuda said to be strong contenders for the company?s top job. However, some also said Baihaki still have good chance to retain his job as President Magawati was pleased to see his performance in managing the company.

Government is currently drafting regulation about Pertamina, and once drafted, Pertamina?s status will be changed into limited liability company.(arry)
