State oil and gas firm Pertamina is approaching oil refiners in Asia to process around 32,500 barrels per day (BPD) of Iranian Light Crude, company president director Baihaki Hakim said Friday.
The company?s move is to anticipate oil product shortage due to the planned Balongan refinery shutdown in August, for three months. Balongan processes 125,000 BPD of crude.
Baihaki said the Asian refiners they had approached included those from China. He however refused to name the other refiners.
Recently, Pertamina picked Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC) to refine for Pertamina 62,500 BPD of Minas crude and 30,000 BPD of Iranian light crude for at least two months, from August to September. Pertamina has to seek another Asian refiner to meet the 32,500 BPD shortfall. (godang)
