State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina said it is seeking technology licensors for the planned expansion of the Cilacap oil refinery in Central Java, and the development of a new oil refinery in Tuban, East Java.
Pertamina said in a statement on Monday that the selection of the technology licensors is an important step before the projects move to the next stage of front end engineering design (FEED) and construction.
The company said that a total of 30 companies participated in the selection of the technology licensor for the planned Tuban refinery project, and 15 companies for the Cilacap refinery expansion project.
Pertamina said that the selection process is expected to be completed at the end of the first quarter of this year for the Cilacap project, and at the end of the second quarter for the Tuban project.
Elsewhere, the statement said that Pertamina is currently in the process of completing the bankable feasibility study (BFS) and the environmental impact assessment study (or AMDAL) for the Tuban project, targeted to be completed in June of this year. Meanwhile, in the Cilacap project, basic engineering design (BED) is currently in progress, targeted to be completed in March of this year, while the AMDAL in July of 2017.
?Groundbreaking for the Cilacap refinery project (is scheduled) in the fourth quarter, while groundbreaking for the Tuban project in the third quarter,? Pertamina President Director Dwi Soetjipto said.
He added that groundbreaking for the Balikpapan refinery is scheduled for the first quarter of this year.
The upgraded Cilacap refinery is expected to be operational in 2022 with an increased production capacity of 400,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) from 340,000 bopd.
The Tuban refinery will have production capacity of 300,000 bopd, producing 90 bpd of gasoline, 100,000 bpd of automotive diesel, and 30,000 bpd of jet fuel.
