Pertamina seeks to farm-in Oman oil block

State oil gas firm Pertamina is seeking to acquire 35 percent working interest in an oil-producing block in the sultanate of Oman, according to the company?s president.

Pertamina?s president Baihaki Hakim told reporters on Thursday that a Nordic firm Fortum which holds 35 percent working interest in Suneinah block had offered Pertamina to farm in.

According to Baihaki, Sunaenah block currently produces some 50,000 BOEPD. The block is operated by Occidental Petroleum.

According Fortum?s website, it tries to sell its interest in Oman?s Sunaenah block in order to concentrate in Russia and Norway. Fortum had appointed the London based investment bank Waterous as advisor in the disposal process.

A source at Pertamina said that Pertamina had submitted its bid and the results will expected to be made early next year. (alex/godang)
