State oil and gas company Pertamina's president Baihaki Hakim said he would lobby liquefied natural gas (LNG) buyers in Taiwan to buy more from the state company.
Baihaki will leave the country on Wednesday for a routine annual visit until Feb. 8 to meet LNG buyers in three countries -- South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
The three countries are known as the region's largest LNG market as well as Indonesia's LNG buyers.
Baihaki said Pertamina hoped to supply five to six million tons of LNG to Taiwan starting next year.
Indonesia now exports two million tons of LNG per year to Taiwan, 19.7 million tons to Japan and 7.2 million tons to South Korea.
Baihaki said Pertamina is eying new potential demand in the southern part of Taiwan, where LNG demand is projected to increase to five to six million tons per year from between two and three million tons today. (Godang/Epin)
