Monday, January 14 2002 - 06:38 PM WIB

State oil and gas firm Pertamina said on Monday that despite having submitted an offer to acquire 35 percent working interest in Sunaenah oil block in the sultanate of Oman, the chances to win block is slim.

?I?ve heard the information that there are other bidders who outbid us. So, I think the chance is quite slim for Pertamina,? said Eteng Salam, Pertamina?s deputy upstream director in an interview on Monday.

Nordic oil firm Fortum, which holds 35 percent working interest in Sunaenah block, has offered its entire stake for sale in order to concentrate in Russia and Norway.

The block is currently produces crude at a rate of 50,000 barrels per day.(alex/godang)
