Pertamina sees production rate at W. Java oil field to peak at 18,000 BPD

State oil and gas company Pertamina will drill 45 wells including 32 production wells in its Pondok Tengah oil field in two years? time to bring the field to produce peak production 18,000-20,000 barrels per day in 2008, a company official said on Monday.

Kun Kurnaely, president director of Pertamina E&P, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pertamina told reporters that the field, which is located in Bekasi, near Jakarta, is expected to commence production this year with the drilling of 10 production well and initial production rate of 1,000 BPD.

Kun also said in 2007, Pertamina E&P would develop 16 gas discoveries around West Java area with potential to flow 200-300MMCFD of gas.

Pertamina produced 135,000 barrels of oil per day in 2005, or 4 percent below target. The company plans to produce 149,000 barrels per day in 2006. Pertamina's 2005 gas production was 1BCFD.(godang)
