Pertamina sets new industrial fuel prices

State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina raised the retail prices of some oil-based fuels for industry and high-octane fuels begin Jan. 1.

Fuels for industry were increased by between 0.5 percent and 4.9 percent as Pertamina adjusted the prices in line with the Mid Oil Platts Singapore (MOPS) index.

New sets price for region 1 (Sumatra, Java, Bali areas) for gasoline up by 1.9 percent to Rp 4,839.7 per liter from Rp 4,749.5 per liter, kerosene by 4.9 percent to Rp 5,541 per liter from Rp 5,282.2 per liter, and Marine Diesel Fuel rose by 0.5 percent to Rp 4,886 (US$0.54) per liter from Rp 4,863.1 per liter, Pertamina said.

It also upped prices for high-octane Pertamax by Rp 400 per liter to Rp 5,200 per liter on Jan. 1. Pertamax Plus and Biopertamax prices also increased to Rp 5,350 and Rp 5,200 per liter from Rp 5,200 and Rp 4,750 per liter, respectively.

The company cut prices of other fuels high-speed diesel for transportation and Industry which were set 1.6 percent lower at Rp 5,209 per and Rp 4,983 per liter, respectively.

Pertamina said the decision to increase the prices also took into account the rupiah?s decline in value against the greenback by 0.05 percent in December.

Pertamina said fuel for industrial use this year would stand at between 19.5 million kiloliters (kl) and 25 million kl. (*)
