State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina announced on Friday it has set two gas stations to support the operation of its subsidiary PT Pertamina EP (PEP) in West Papua.

The for-industry-only gas station, known locally by the acronym SPBI, is located in the city of Sorong and Klamono, a district in Sorong regency.

The gas stations were inaugurated on Thursday in a ceremony presided over by PEP's SCM & General Services Vice President Elizar P. Hasibuan.

The stations will be managed by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga. The oil fuels and lubricants will be supplied by Pertamina?s Industrial Fuel Marketing Division.

With the establishment of the gas stations, PEP will act as buyers of oil and lubricants distributed from the gas stations.

?Thus, they (PEP) will no longer need to order (their oil fuel and lubricant needs), store (them) and keep them from being stolen or missing as all these works will be handled by Pertamina Patra Niaga. They need only to pay for those they have used,? Elizar said, adding the new system will push PEP to concentrate on finding oil.

Pertamina has thus far built a total of 19 gas stations of this type to support PEP?s operation across the country. Products available at the gas stations are Premium gasoline and diesel oil.
