State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina has set up a special unit to handle the company?s crude oil and fuel imports, which were previously conducted by its two different departments.

Pertamina?s president director Ari Soemarno said in Jakarta on Thursday that the establishment of the special import unit called Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) was needed to ensure transparency in the company?s import activities.

Pertamina has appointed Sudirman Said as ISC?s head.

For transparency purpose, the new unit would publicly disclose the company?s crude oil and fuel imports every three months, he said. ?We will carry out a public disclosure like those conducted by publicly listed companies,? he added.

Previously, Pertamina?s imports were carried out by two different units. The marketing and commercial department was tasked to import fuel, while the processing department to import crude oil. (godang/Bernard)
