The company said in a press statement over the weekend that the lubricant products would be sold in the Middle East, targeting tanker ships transporting oil from the area.
It stated that the first lubricant product from the Sharlu?s plant had been used in VLCC MT Arenza ship in Fujairah, Dubai last Thursday (31st January 2013). Fujairah is the place where tanker ships get refueling.
The company said that the cooperation with Sharlu would not only in production but in the marketing of the lubricant products as well. The step was part of its efforts to increase global competency in the lubricant production.
?The production and marketing of the lubricant products in Fujairah is a solution to meet the lubricant needs of maritime consumers?Pertamina ships and non-Pertamina ships. Previously, VLCC Arenza and MT Dewi Maeswara which transport crude oil from Rastanura, Saudi Arabia to RU IV plant in Cilacap, use non-Pertamina lubricants. But from now on they will use the Pertamina lubricant products,? said Pertamina Corporate Communication Vice President Ali Mundakir.
The lubricant production in Fujairah is the second such production by Pertamaina. Since the end of 2011, it had started lubricant production in Singapore, targeting Pertamina and non-Pertamina ships.
It stated that it would continue to expand such business at the international market. So far it had managed to enter 22 countries in the Asia Pacific region. It had also penetrated the European market through Switzerland, and the African market through South Africa.
