Pertamina ships out 158 cargoes of LNG

State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina has shipped out 158 cargoes of LNG per August 2013 to meet the demand of Indonesia?s LNG traditional customers of Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
Pertamina is currently preparing to ship out 198 cargoes of LNG in 2014 from Bontang and Arun plants, respectively managed by PT Badak NGL and ExxonMobil Indonesia. Next year will be the last time for the Arun plant to ship LNG to South Korea, said Pertamina Vice President for LNG, Didik Sasongko.
?Until August, 158 std cargoes (125,000 m3 per cargo. And in 2014, 198 std cargoes from Badak and Arun plants,? Didik told Petromindo.com Monday.
He said that Pertamina has not been able to meet rising LNG demand from Japan following the damage of the Fukushima nuclear power plant in the country. ?Japan has requested for extra (supply) but there?s no production,? he said.
Separately, Deputy for Commercial Affairs at the upstream authority SKK Migas, Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja acknowledged of the additional LNG demand from Japan, but Indonesia could not yet meet the request as the country is prioritizing on meeting domestic gas demand. ?We?ll fulfill the domestic demand first. If there?s surplus, then we?ll release it to the export market,? he told Petromindo.com.
