Pertamina shuts down Cilacap CDU unit on tube burst

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina temporarily stops operations at its Cilacap refinery in Central Java after tube burst hit a furnace at Crude Distillation Unit#2 Wednesday morning.

Processing Director Rukmi Hadihartini told reporters that the burst caused crude to leak and caught fire. The fire, she said was put off 20 minutes later.

Rukmi said the incident caused Pertamina to temporarily shut down CDU#2, which has processing capacity of 230,000 BPD.

She said the CDU would need 1-2 days to re-start.

Rukmi said another unit CDU#1 with capacity of 118,000 BPD is not affected by the burst.

Rukmi said Indoensian fuel supply would not be affected by the incident as national stocks are still at the safe level.(bernard/godang)
