Pertamina shuts down illegal oil wells in Jambi

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina through its Pertamina Asset 1 unit, in cooperation with the Jambi Provincial administration, was scheduled to shut down on Monday (December 18) the operation of 13 illegal oil wells in Pompa Air Village, Bajubajang District, Batanghari Regency, Antara reported on Tuesday.
This was said by Public Relations Manager of Pertamina Asset 1, Andrew. He said that Pertamina had previously shut down 26 illegal oil wells in the area. He added that the company is determined to close down all oil wells operated illegally by villagers.
Pertamina sees a potential to increase oil production at its asset in Batanghari Regency, but the company has yet to implement exploration activities to ensure the reserve can be commercially produced. (*)
