State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina on Friday signed a MoU with PT Badan Usaha Milik Desa Indonesia (BUM Desa Indonesia), a holding company of companies owned by villages in the country, to develop renewable energy sources.

The company said in a statement that the MoU was signed by Pertamina Gas Director Yenni Andayani and BUM Desa Indonesia President Director Eddy Limantoro.

Yenni said that a pilot project of hybrid power plant (solar panel and gas) will be developed in Talang Bawang and Mesuji regencies of Lampung province to help revive local shrimp farms at the end of next year. The cooperation will then be expanded to other areas in the future.
