State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina started on Friday selling its new fuel product called Pertalite at 101 gasoline stations in three of the country?s largest cities including Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya in a bid to test the market.
Pertamina President Director Dwi Soetjipto said in a statement Pertalite, with research octane number of (RON) 90, offers better quality gasoline, than the mostly consumed premium gasoline with RON number of 88.
He added that the market trial was aimed at looking into the response of consumers as the company hopes motorists to switch into the new fuel product from the premium gasoline.
Pertamina hopes to expand the market of Pertalite if consumers? response is positive.
