State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) announced on Thursday it has started supplying gas to households in Bekasi regency, West Java province.

?Bekasi is the second town which has been enjoying city gas networks operated by Pertamina in 2016, after Bulungan in North Kalimantan province. This is the result of synergy within Pertamina. The gas is provided by Pertamina EP, channeled via transmission pipeline owned by PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) and managed by Pertagas Niaga,? President Director of Pertagas Niaga Jugi Prajogio said in a statement.

Jugi said the gas is sourced from the well owned by Pertamina EP in West Java which has allocated 0.2 mmscfd for the Bekasi city gas network. At present, the gas is being supplied to 900 households in Jaya Mukti village, Cikarang Pusat; and Serta Jaya sub-district in Cikarang Timur. The coverage will be gradually increased up to 400 households.

The existing city gas network in the regency was built using funds sourced from the 2014 state budget.
