Tuesday, January 6 2009 - 03:03 AM WIB

State oil and gas company PT.Pertamina said on Tuesday it had restarted Balongan refinery in Indramayu, West Java Monday night.

Processing Director Rukmi Hadihartini said the refinery would reach normal capacity on January 9.

The refinery was shut down since October 2008 for scheduled maintenance and should have been back on full operations at Christmas. However, technical problems at the refinery?s CDU have forced the shut-down to be prolonged.

Balongan has a combined capacity of processing 125,000 BPD of crude oil and produces various fuels such as Pertamax Plus, Pertamina Dex, unleaded gasoline and LPG. The refinery accounts for about 10 percent of Pertamina's refining capacity. (bernard)
