Pertamina strikes oil, gas in West Java

Pertamina EP, an upstream unit of state oil and gas company PT.Pertamina has discovered oil, gas from three exploration wells in West Java with combined flow of 4,900 BPD of oil and 14 MMCFD of gas., a company official said.

Pertamina EP President Tri Siwindono told reporters that the Ranca Jawa-1 well, which was spudded November 2007 to the depth of 2,344 meters, flowed 1,345 BPD of oil and 4.1MMCFD of gas from Talang Akar and Pre-Talang Akar formation.

Pondok Makmur-1 well, which was also spudded in November to the total depth 3,050 meters flowed 3,096 BPD of oil and 3.9 MMCFD of gas. Both of the wells are located in Pertamina?s Pondok Tengah oil, gas field complex.

Karang Enggal-1 well, which was spudded on December and drilled to the depth of 3,200 meters flowed 448 BPD of oil and 6 MMCFD of gas. Karang Enggal is located in Indramayu.

The company plans to follow up the discoveries with six delineation drillings later this year, Siwindono said. (godang/bernard)
