State-owned oil, gas firm PT Pertamina will add 49,000 matric tons (MT) of LPG supplies to Java and Sumatra regions to anticipate the rising demand for LPG available in 3-kg tanks in the regions.

Pertamina?s director of marketing and trade Ahmad Faisal said that a total of 6,000 MT of LPG currently unloaded at the Tanjung Priok port from the Navigator Aries vessel and would be soon ready for distribution. This will be followed by two vessels, Gas Sikousis and Asian Gas, each carrying 1,800 MT.

"Thus, new supplies from the port will total 9,600 MT," he said.

The LPG supply is expected to meet the LPG need from Jadebotabek (Greater Jakarta) customers and thus, the LPG availability would be back to normal, Faisal said.

Meanwhile, two vessels, Maharasi and Maharasi 2, are unloading 30,000 MT at the Tanjung Uban port in Batam. Of the amount, 20,000 MT will be forwarded to meet consumers' demand in Sumatra and another 10,000 MT to the Eretan port in West Java to meet the province's demand. From Eretan, 9,400 MT will transported to Indramayu, according to Faisal. (godang)
