Pertamina teams up with Chinese firms on EOR projects

State owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina will team up with Chinese firms - Daqing Oilfield Limited and Geo Corporation Limited ? to carry out enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects in the company?s existing oil wells, Investor Daily reported on Monday.

The principle of agreement for the cooperation was signed in Jakarta last week by the upstream director of Pertamina, M. Husen, Vice President Director of Daqing Oiffield Limited, Zhong Qigang, and President Director of Geo Corporation Limited, Jiao Xiao Meng. The signing of the cooperation agreement was also attended by Minister for State Enterprises Dahlan Iskan and President Director of Pertamina Karen Agustiawan .

Husen said with the EOR projects, Pertamina expected to be able meet its target to increase production by about 200,000 barrels per day from the company?s existing wells.

According to geological data, the company?s production could be increased by 200,000 bpd if the company implement EOR program at its existing aging wells. (*)
