State oil and gas firm Pertamina will accelerate the construction of two fuel storage facilities in Banten and West Java in 2003 so as to meet rising fuel demand in Jakarta and surrounding areas, a company executive told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.
Tuti Anggraheini, deputy director of Pertamina in charge of domestic marketing, said US$30.5 million was needed to build the Balaraja facility in Banten, and $10.5 million would be spent on the Cikampek project in West Java.
They will have capacity to store 200,000 kiloliters and 80,000 kiloliters of fuel respectively, Tuti said.
Tuti said further that Pertamina had considered not to use contractor PT Pandan Wangi to build the Balaraja facility. ?We have problems with the contractor,? Tuti said. She did not elaborate however.
The two storage facilities have been planned to add to the only storage facility in Pelumpang, North Jakarta. (Godang)
