State oil and gas company PT Pertamina expects to make decision on the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Central Java floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) in March this year, the third FSRU after similar facility to be built at the Jakarta bay and at Belawan in North Sumatera.

?The EPCIC (engineering, procurement, construction installation and commissioning) tender is being undertaken,? Daniel Purba, the head of FSRU Central Java tender, told Petromindo.com.

He said the FID of the Central Java FSRU project is scheduled to be announced in March this year.

He said both local and foreign players are invited for the Central Java FSRU's EPCIC tender. However, no local players took part in the pre-qualification tender. Those passed the prequalification tender (PQ) are MISC of Malaysia, Samsung of South Korea, Mitsui of Japan, Golar LNG of Norway and Hoegh of Norway and Excellerate of USA.

?The critical issue for the project is the security of LNG supply from domestic producers,? said Daniel Purba.

The FSRU Central Java will have a storage capacity of 200 million cubic feet per day (mmscfd). The government expects the FSRU to commence operation in 2013.
