Pertamina to appoint long-term LPG supplier next week

State oil, gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) said on Thursday it would appoint winner of 1MTPA LPG supply tender next week.

Marketing Director Achmad Faisal said 16 companies including Royal Dutch/Shell, Saudi Aramco, A1, BP plc, Petronas has participated in the tender.

According to Faisal, winner will supply LPG to Pertamina starting next year for 10 years.

Faisal said half of the volume would be delivered on CIF basis and another half on FOB.

Meanwhile, Pertamina Domestic Gas GM Wahyudin Akbar said that Indonesia?s 2009 LPG consumption might increase to 3-3.3 million tonnes from 2.2 MT this year due to success in switching highly-subsidized kerosene consumption to LPG.

2008 consumption would be supplied by Pertamina?s own production (1 MT), PSC contractors LPG production (1MT) and import (200,000 tonnes), said Wahyudin, adding that import would be increased to 1-1.3MT next year to meet increasing demand. (bernard/godang)
