The South Sumatra unit of state owned oil and gas company Pertamina will carry out delineation drilling works at new wells in Gunung Raja and Gunung Kemala district in the Muara Enim regency to measure the potential of the oil reserves in the location, Antara news agency reported on Wednesday.

Speaking at a hearing with the finance commission of the South Sumatra Legislative Council in Palembang on Tuesday, Pertamina?s local accounting executive, Yulius Souhuwat, said that the drilling works would be carried out in the middle of this year at the depth of 3,500 meters.

He said that the delineation drilling activities would be needed to determine the amount of the oil deposits at the location, which were found in November 2002.

The initial test indicated that the location contained crude oil reserves of about 229.5 million barrels and gas reserves of about 597.2 billion standard cubic feet (BSCF). The test also indicated that the location could produce 396 barrels of oil per day, and 6.1 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD). (*)
