State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina will boost fuel supply in Jakarta and other areas particularly to fuel stations along the main Pantura highway route connecting Jakarta and cities in Java ahead of the Idul Fitri Muslim holiday, the company's senior marketing manager Tjandra Putra Kelana has said.
Speaking to reporters in Jakarta on Friday, Tjandra said that the supply of the Premium fuel along the Pantura route would be increased by about 300 percent three days before the Idul Fitri.
Hundreds of thousands of cars and motorcycles are expected to use the Pantura route, the main on-land route in northern part of Java, ahead of the Idul Fitri as people from all parts of Java, particularly Jakarta visit their home towns for the Idul Fitri celebration.
Pertamina said earlier that in addition to boost the fuel supply, it would also open a number of emergency fuel stations to cope with the sharp fuel demand during the annual exodus. (dino)
