Pertamina to build 2,000 gas stations this year

State oil and gas company PT. Pertamina, joining hands with individual investors, is aiming to add 2,000 new gas stations all over the country this year, company spokesman was quoted by Koran tempo as saying.
Currently, said spokesman Mochamad Harun, Pertamina had 3,157 units of gas stations. Pertamina is stripped off by the new oil and gas law its monopoly to sell retail fuel and faces competition from giant multinational retailer such as Shell and Petronas, which plan massive investment in fuel retails sector.
Harun said that Pertamina is offering investor 4 percent margins for subsidized fuels. With minimum sales volume of 10 kiloliters daily, investors could break even in 6 years? time, said Harun.(*)
