State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) plans to build a gas-fired power plant in the port city of Belawan, North Sumatra, availing itself of the gas it supplies from Aceh, an official of the firm said on Friday.
Pertamina will participate in the tender to be held by state owned electricity firm PST Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) this year for the development of power plant projects in the province, the official, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Petromindo.com.
The power plant is targeted to come onstream in 2018 with a capacity of 2x250 MW. It will be fed with 70-100 mmscfd of gas supplied from the Arun-Belawan pipeline owned by the firm?s subsidiary PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas).
?Pertamins wants to become an IPP (Independent Power Producer) in North Sumatra,? he said.
