Pertamina to build new oil fuel, LPG storage terminals

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina plans to develop new oil fuel and LPG storage terminals in the eastern part of Indonesia to help prevent reoccurrence of shortage of the fuels in the region.

Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communications Wianda Pusponegoro was quoted by liputan6.com as saying Friday that the multi-billion projects will be funded by the state budget.

She said that Pertamina plans to build 21 units of oil fuel storage in 15 locations with combined capacity of 69,500 kiloliters (Kl), and projected investment of US$212 billion. She added that tender process is expected to start this year.

The 15 locations include in Badas (capacity 2500 Kl), Waingapu (2500 Kl), Maumere (5,000 Kl), Pare‎ - Pare (2,500 Kl), Merauke 7,500 Kl), Ternate (3,000 Kl), Wayame (30,000 Kl), (1000 Kl), Bula (3,000 Kl), Dobo (2,000 Kl), Labuha (1,500 Kl), Saumlaki (1,000 Kl), Nabire (5,000 Kl), Namlea (3,000 Kl), and Bima (2,500 Kl).

Pertamina will also develop a number of new LPG storage terminals in the region. Tender has already started, and construction is expected to complete in three years.

The LPG terminal planned in Jayapura will have capacity of 2,000 metric tons, in Wayame 2,000 MT, Tenau Kupang 1,000 Mt, and Bima 1,000 MT.(*)
