Pertamina to build new refinery in South Sumatra

An official of state oil and gas company Pertamina planned to build a refinery replacing the old one in Plaju, South Sumatra.
General manager of Pertamina's refinery in Plaju M Naibaho said Pertamina planned to build a refinery with the processing capacity of 125,000 barrels of oil per day replacing the existing refinery, which was built in the 1920s.
Pertamina expected to start the construction of the refinery in 2001 or 2002 and the construction was scheduled for completion in four or five years.
Pertamina expected the participation of investors in the development of the refinery, he was quoted by local daily Sriwijaya Post as saying on Saturday on the sidelines of the ceremony to celebrate Pertamina's anniversary. (*)
