State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has decided to cut prices of fuel for industrial users in October following the declining trend of the fuels price at international market, a company official said Friday.

Company head of fuel division Djaelani Sutomo said in Jakarta that Pertamina would sell gasoline at Rp 5,393 a liter starting Oct. 1, down 15 percent from Rp 6,359 a liter this month.

“Prices of oil products in Singapore show a declining trend although not as high as that of crude,” Djaelani said.

Pertamina uses Mid Oil Platts Singapore (MOPS) as benchmark to determine fuel prices every month.

Djaelani said Pertamina would also cut the price of diesel by 9.3 percent to Rp 5,968 a liter. The price of kerosene will go down to Rp 6,039 a liter from Rp 6,487 this month.

The state company will sell fuel oil at Rp 3,245 per liter, 14 percent lower than the prevailing price this month. Meanwhile, marine diesel price will be set at Rp 5,797 a liter throughout October. (godang)
